Tim O’Brien has lived and worked in Burlington’s Wards 4 & 5 for most of his professional life. As a drama and music teacher in Halton, a former Catholic School Trustee, and an active parish volunteer, he has been closely connected to local schools, parishes, and neighbourhoods.

Experience & Service

Trustee Leadership

  • Four years as Catholic School Trustee in Burlington (city‑wide).
  • Served on CPIC, SAL, and Discipline Committee.
  • Brought forward and passed motion for Halton Catholic to go paperless.

Education & Outreach

  • Seventeen years teaching drama and music in Halton.
  • Initiated outreach to homeless in Burlington’s downtown core.
  • Organized annual parish/school talent show for Catholic students.

Parish & Mission Work

  • Served with Lay Scarboro Foreign Mission Program (one year).
  • Two years on parish finance committee.
  • Initiated hearing‑accessibility at a local Catholic church.

Music Ministry & Knights

  • Music ministry at St. Philippe, St. John the Baptist, St. Paul the Apostle, St. Patrick, and St. Raphael.
  • Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus (St. Philippe French Catholic Church).

Why I am running for HCDSB Trustee, Wards 4 & 5

I am running because I care about our schools. From recruiting for the Basketball Free Throw to playing for school Masses to volunteering in kindergarten classrooms, I have been engaged in the care of Ward 4 and 5 students—both during my time as Trustee and afterwards.

Priorities as a Trustee

My priority is the well‑being of students. They should be included, cared for, and supported in reaching their greatest potential. I also value meaningful community engagement: communication between home, school, and parish is essential. I will work to ensure staff have the professional tools they need to support students effectively.

Connection to Wards 4 & 5

I have lived in Wards 4 and 5 for most of my professional life and have volunteered in their schools. I am an associate member of the neighbourhood communities and have played organ and guitar in the churches of Wards 4 and 5. It is where I live, and I am proud of it.

Burlington’s Wards 4 & 5 include schools, parishes, and neighbourhoods that Tim has served for many years. His work in classrooms, parishes, and community outreach has been rooted in these wards, with a focus on supporting families and students in Catholic education.
